A couple of years ago, my wife and I were planning on taking my mother-in-law to a Brazilian styled steakhouse for her birthday.
But getting my in-laws to explore too far out of their comfort zone isn’t an easy task, and by their suggestion we ended up celebrating at Uncle Bud’s instead.
Though this was my first time at Uncle Bud’s, and it didn’t take long before I was feeling right at home.
Blue and white checkered curtains line the front windows.
Each table is adorned with red and white checkerboard styled table cloths.
Playful décor surrounds you on the walls; old license plates, humorous fishing quotes, and signs featuring Barney Fife, the famous John Deere logo, and catfish.
Classic country music plays softly behind your conversations and you can’t help but sing along with Merle, Willie, Marty Robbins, and many more!
This all works together with their great menu of Southern comfort food to give the restaurant an atmosphere that perfectly suits their motto of, “more than good food, it’s a good feeling!”
Speaking of their menu:
You have your choice of several items including gator tail, frog legs, chicken livers, and biscuits & gravy, but you can never go wrong with their all-you-can-eat fried catfish and chicken.
Each dinner meal also comes with all-you-can-eat fixin’s that are delivered to your table as soon as you sit down; white beans, slaw, pickles and onions, and hushpuppies.
Top it all off with a sweet tea served in a mason jar.
The prices are extremely reasonable and kid’s under 6 eat free, which makes Uncle Bud’s an affordable outing for the whole family.
Fun Fact - To complete your Southern dining experience, make sure to get ya a moon pie on the way out when you pay.
