“Are You Crying? There’s No Crying in Baseball!”

Just one of the memorable lines from A League of Their Own, the 1992 film about the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League starring Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Madonna, Lori Petty, and Rosie O’Donnell.

But did you know that you can visit the home stadium of the Rockford Peaches; the same one that appeared in the movie.

Located in southwestern Indiana in Huntingburg, a small community with a population of 6,000 that is known for their numerous antique shops, sits League Stadium; the permanent structure that Columbia Pictures gave to the city when the revitalized the grand stand (originally built in 1894) and turned it into the ball field that it is today.

The stadium seats 2,783 and is the home field for the Dubois County Bombers of the Ohio Valley League, but it showcases its history with the classic film at every turn in an atmosphere straight out of the golden era of baseball.

The Bombers play in vintage-inspired uniforms.

On the side of the small building that houses merchandise, the famous line of “There’s No Crying In Baseball” is painted.

Likewise, underneath the press booth is the same cursive painting that is seen in the film it reads, “Rockford Peaches.”

The billboards that line the home run wall today are the same vintage pieces from the movie, including the sign that says, “Read about the Rockford Peaches in the Morning Star” underneath the hand-operated scoreboard.

Speaking of the Rockford Peaches, the stadium boasts their own set of girls each summer that are in the stadium wearing the vintage Peaches uniforms and making sure the crowd is having fun by leading them in dance-a-longs, painting pink lines under little girl’s eyes, and more!

Casey The Clown Price acts as the other mascot – Casey dresses in a vintage baseball uniform complete with Chuck Taylor’s, and like the Peaches, entertains the crowd whether he is painting black lines under little boy’s eyes, running around the stadium and turning fans ball caps sideways, or leading the rousing cheers that bring the home town club to victory.

League Stadium isn’t just a place to catch a ball game, but it is a place that honors their motto “Where Every Night Is Throwback Night,” by providing a family-friendly atmosphere to enjoy America’s favorite pastime.
