The quaint little town of St. Charles, IL sits on the border of DuPage and Kane County right along the Fox River, 40 miles west of Chicago.

St. Charles is widely recognized in the Chicagoland area for their outstanding dining options, boutique shopping, and nightlife that includes comedy at Zanies and live music at the historic Arcada Theatre, which opened in 1926.

But every October, downtown St. Charles transforms itself into Scarecrow Fest.

With over 100 hand-crafted scarecrows spread out across the downtown area, the many visitors are delighted when they not only get to view them, but get to vote on which ones are their favorites in the annual competition.

After viewing and voting on the main attraction; there are also opportunities for inspired visitors to make their own scarecrow to take home with them.

But the fun doesn’t end there.

Stroll through the huge variety of arts and crafts stands in Pottawatomie park.

Take in some top-notch local music while sampling over 80 unique craft sodas.

For the kids, visit the carnival, petting zoo, or watch magicians, stiltwalkers, and balloon artists.

Top your day off with a family memory by taking a picturesque paddle boat ride down the Fox River.
