Sonny Acres Farm

29W310 North Avenue
West Chicago, IL 60185

Founded in 1883 by First Generation German immigrants Ferdinand and Anna Nagel, Oakwood Farm wouldn’t become known as Sonny Acres until 1954 after Ramona Nagel Feltes, the granddaughter of the farm’s original founders, and her husband Victor started selling goods from a roadside table.

Through the years Sonny Acres Farm has grown immensely in popularity in the Chicagoland area.

The springtime brings those that are preparing to plant for the season.

The summertime, it’s the place to go for fresh produce.

The farm turns into a Christmas tree lot with over 800 fresh trees in the winter.

But what has put Sonny Acres on the map is their amazing Fall Harvest Celebration.

The farm turns into a family-friendly atmosphere lined with wagons and carts full of pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn, and an all-around celebration of the harvest season.

A witch looms overhead in one of the trees looking down at all of those that dare to enter her backyard.

Wooden cutouts of pumpkins, ghosts, mummies, and scarecrows line the walkways, which are surrounded by piles and piles of pumpkins.

The spook shed and haunted barn will give thrill seekers that extra jolt.

Or if you are in the mood for something a little scarier, take a wagon ride on weekends throughout October ($10 cost for this) through their haunted woods full of ghouls and goblins.

The Halloween costume shop has something for all of your spooktacular needs from masks, to wigs and decorations.

The general store transforms into a market full of all your favorite fall treats to take home including apples, apple cider, gourmet taffy apples, jams, and jellies.

But the family fun doesn’t end there – carnival rides, a fun house, a petting zoo, and pony rides are offered for an additional experience as well.

Fun Fact – To allow you to give your family a memorable, all-around experience at Sonny Acres, there is no cover charge to enter the farm.
