Grandma Sally's

7301 W North Ave
River Forest, IL 60305

Growing up, there was a Saturday morning ritual in my family.

Nani got her hair done, Papa worked at the apartment building that he was the landlord of, and when both were done we’d all get together to go somewhere for breakfast.

The places would vary, but it was always a special treat when we got to go to Grandma Sally’s.

Like many of the family-styled restaurants around the Chicagoland area, they offer a wide variety of food choices, but are well-known for a few of them; especially breakfast with some leaning on a southern style for their inspiration.

Their Baked Apple Pancake put them on the map and has earned them rave reviews, if not for the sheer enormity of the dish, then for it’s amazing flavor and taste.

They have recently added a Baked Banana Pancake to their menu as well to rival their apple creation.

Staying on the sweeter side of breakfast, you can also try Red Velvet French Toast or Taffy Apple Crepes; a variation of the standard crepe that’s stuffed with sautéed apples and topped with peanuts and caramel.

Going the heartier route, dig into their meat skillet which is filled with ham, bacon, sausage, cheese, eggs, and hash browns.

Dig into their Farmhouse Breakfast; two biscuits smothered with sausage gravy and topped with eggs.

And take a walk on the wilder side with another of Grandma Sally’s creations; the Pot Roast Benedict, English muffins topped with pot roast and poached eggs.

It’s easy to see why a visit to Grandma Sally’s is always a treat for us and we believe that it will be for you and your family as well.

Fun Fact – Grandma Sally’s has been known to have chicken and waffles as one of their specials pretty frequently, so if you hit this at the right time you can enjoy the sweet and savory dish.
