Casey Jones Village

56 Casey Jones Lane
Jackson, TN 38305

Jackson, Tennessee is just about the midway point between Nashville and Memphis; sitting at the Crossroads of the Music Highway & the Rock-a-Billy Highway.

Best known for rock-a-Billy legend Carl Perkins (who called the Jackson area home), Jackson also boasts Casey Jones as one of their claims to fame.

Jones, an iconic railroad engineer, sacrificed his own life to save all of the passengers on his train from a high impact collision with another that was stalled on the tracks in front of them.

The Village of Jackson celebrates the legacy and legend of Casey Jones with the Casey Jones Village.

You can walk through the historic home that he and his family lived in.

Visit the railroad museum right next to his home and learn all about Casey through several exhibits dedicated to him, explore authentic railcars, and climb aboard the engine model outside and ring the bell to do your best imitation of Casey Jones.

But your time at the village doesn’t end with his home and railroad museum.

Walk back in time with every step that you and your family take as you explore the recreated 1900’s era town that surrounds the home and museum.

Visit the Wellwood Store, which includes the “Wildlife in Wood” Studio of local master woodcarver H. Dee Moss.

Take a look at the 100+ year old Village Chapel.

Enjoy artwork when you step into the galleries on the property; Art in the Village and Little Artist Studio.

And grab a hearty bite to eat at the world renowned Brooks Shaw’s Old Country Store Restaurant.

Their walls are decorated with antiques that bring history to life right in front of your very eyes as you explore the way things used to be through these artifacts.

Their southern buffet includes all of the comfort foods you could ever ask for from Chicken and Dumplins’, to Catfish, Mac-N-Cheese, and more.

But make sure to save room for dessert.

Inside of The Old Country Store sits a recreated 1890’s styled Ice Cream Parlor, which has been named one of the Top 50 Ice Cream Parlors in America.

Life these days is full of instant gratification and moving so quickly that you miss the living part of life.

While the Casey Jones Village makes for a great stopping point on your travels down I-40 in Tennessee, it also boldly stands as proof that we need to take the time to slow things down, make memories together, and spend time with our families around the table.

Fun Fact - Top off your family-fun day at Casey Jones Village by showcasing your skills on the greens; The Casey Jones Village also features the Casey Jones 18-hole Mini-Golf ($6 per adult/$5 for children 4-11)
