Sweet Tea

Sweet tea has been a staple in my house, as well as countless others, all of my life. I never thought of needing to make a recipe for it, because who doesn’t know (and love) sweet tea?!?! However, color me surprised when my in-laws from the north came down to visit and had only ever had “iced tea”. After teaching them how to make this simple, yet perfect drink, I wrote down how to make it at their request. I even explained how this is just my version of it and everyone makes theirs different. So, if you ever need a “recipe” for sweet tea, here you go.

What you’ll need:

3 family size tea bags (I prefer Lipton – you can use normal size tea bags, just use 6 or 7)
1 & ½ cups of sugar
A dash of lemon juice (fresh is always better)
10-12 cups of water

How to get your cookin’ on:

In a large pot bring your water to a good hard boil
While water is heating to a boil, place the sugar and lemon juice in a gallon pitcher
When the water is boiling, pour it into the pitcher
Stir until all of the sugar has melted
Place the tea bags inside the water (I always dunk mine a few times) and let he strings hang over the side
Place the lid on the pitcher and let the tea bags steep for about 20 minutes
Remove tea bags and finish filling up the pitcher with cold water
Stir again and place in the refrigerator to cool completely
